Ordering

How do I order grillz from Bite Club?

Pick your teeth and metal in the builder (app or website) and choose how your impression will be taken: our at-home kit or your dentist. Complete the mouth safety check, add any design notes, then send the request. Once we've checked your impression we confirm the final quote and timeline, and you can track every stage from wax to snap-fit.

How and when do I pay?

Once your impression has been checked, we send a confirmed quote. Full payment is due up front, and your piece goes on the bench when it clears. No payment is taken in the app, and we never take cash at appointments. That keeps everyone safe and keeps appointments about your piece.

Where do appointments happen? Can I visit the studio?

Bite Club has no walk-in shop. Consultations and collections happen by private appointment, in a secure room at a five-star London venue or in Hatton Garden. We share the details once your appointment is confirmed, your payment has cleared and your ID has been checked. We never take impressions at appointments: that's done by you with our home kit, or by your dentist.

How long do custom grillz take?

It depends on how many teeth, the metal, any stone setting and hallmarking. We confirm a timeline once your impression has been checked. You can then follow the six stages (impression in, stone model, wax sculpt, cast and hallmarked, polish and setting, ready to snap-fit) live in the app and on your Lock Screen.

Can you rush my order for an event?

Tell us your date in your order notes. Whether we can make it depends on the bench queue, the metal and whether hallmarking is needed. We'll be honest about it. We don't cut corners on fit or finish to hit a deadline.

Can I buy grillz as a gift?

Grillz are made to one person's teeth, so the wearer has to take their own impression (or have their dentist do it) and complete the safety check themselves. You can cover the cost. Ask the studio about arranging it.

Can I bring my own design?

Absolutely. Add references and details in your order notes: open face, diamond-cut, initials, a specific fang shape, a mix of metals. Custom work is quoted individually once we've seen your impression, because the design has to work with your actual teeth and bite.

Do you make grillz for under-18s?

Bite Club only makes grillz for people aged 18 and over, and every order includes that confirmation. Younger teeth and gums are still changing, and a piece made today can stop fitting quickly.

Why do you take full payment up front?

Every Bite Club piece is cast in precious metal to your teeth and nobody else's, so it can't be resold if an order falls through. Full payment up front means your piece goes straight on the bench, appointments stay about the fit, not the money, and nobody carries cash. Your consumer rights still apply if anything is faulty or not as agreed.

What are the rules of Bite Club?

1. Show your teeth. 2. Impressions are taken by you or your dentist, never by us. 3. Full payment before we start. 4. Private appointments only. 5. 18 and over. 6. Take them out to eat. 7. Never sleep in them. 8. Pain means stop: take it out and see your dentist.

Pricing

How much do grillz cost?

Starting prices per tooth: 925 sterling silver from £85, 9ct gold from £160, 14ct gold from £240, 18ct gold from £350, and iced VVS diamond from £650. A top six in 9ct starts from about £960. Your final quote depends on the metal weight, design and any stones, and we confirm it after checking your impression.

Why does my quote differ from the starting price?

Starting prices are for a standard solid tooth. The final price moves with the weight of metal (larger teeth and thicker pieces use more), the precious-metal market price on the day, design work like open faces or diamond-cutting, stone count and setting style, and hallmarking.

Does the gold price affect my quote?

Gold and silver are traded daily and their price moves. Quotes are based on the metal price when we issue them, and your quote tells you how long it's valid for.

Why not just buy cheap grillz online?

Cheap grillz are usually one-size or 'mould yourself' pieces in plated base metal. The plating wears through, base metals like nickel can irritate gums, and a poor fit traps food and rubs. A custom piece is made to an impression of your teeth in solid, hallmarked precious metal, so it fits properly and lasts.

Metals & stones

Which metal should I choose?

925 sterling silver is bright and affordable but tarnishes. 9ct gold (37.5% gold) is the toughest and best value, with a paler yellow. 14ct (58.5%) balances colour and durability. 18ct (75%) has the deepest yellow and a softer, richer shine, but scratches a little more easily. If you have a metal allergy, tell us before we quote.

What do 9ct, 14ct and 18ct actually mean?

Carat (ct) measures gold purity out of 24. 9ct is 375 parts per thousand gold (37.5%), 14ct is 585, 18ct is 750 and 24ct is 999 (pure). The rest is other metals that add strength and change the colour. Sterling silver is 925 (92.5% silver). The fineness number is part of the UK hallmark.

Will silver grillz tarnish?

Sterling silver reacts with sulphur compounds in the air and in food, so it darkens over time. Regular cleaning with mild soap and a soft brush keeps it bright, and a silver cloth brings it back. Gold doesn't tarnish the same way.

Can I get white gold or rose gold?

Other gold colours are possible on request and are quoted individually. Some white gold alloys contain nickel and are often rhodium-plated, and the plating wears over time. If you have any metal allergy, tell us so we can quote a suitable nickel-free alloy.

Are Bite Club grillz solid gold or plated?

Our gold tiers are solid 9ct, 14ct or 18ct gold, and silver is solid 925 sterling. Plated grillz have a thin layer of gold over a cheaper metal that wears away. Gold-filled pieces have a thicker bonded layer but still aren't solid. Solid precious-metal pieces over the legal weight thresholds are hallmarked.

What does VVS mean?

VVS is a diamond clarity grade: very, very slightly included. Any inclusions are so small they're very hard to see even under 10x magnification. It's split into VVS1 and VVS2, above VS (very slightly included) and below IF/FL (internally flawless/flawless). Clarity is one of the 4Cs, along with cut, colour and carat weight.

Diamond, moissanite or cubic zirconia: what's the difference?

Diamond is the hardest natural gem and holds its polish. Natural and lab-grown diamonds are both real diamond, and lab-grown must always be disclosed. Moissanite (silicon carbide) is a different gem, nearly as hard, with more rainbow fire, and costs much less. Cubic zirconia is a softer synthetic that scratches and clouds over time. We'll always tell you exactly what's in your piece.

What setting styles are there for iced grillz?

Pavé sets many small stones close together for a fully 'iced' surface. Prong (claw) settings hold each stone with small metal claws for maximum light. Bezel settings wrap a rim of metal around each stone, which is very secure. Channel settings run stones in a groove between metal walls. The best choice depends on your design and how you'll wear it.

Can stones fall out?

Stones are set to be secure, but grillz live a tough life: biting, clenching and knocks can loosen settings over time. Never eat in your grillz. If a stone feels loose or rattles, stop wearing the piece and contact the studio so it can be checked and reset. A loose stone is a swallowing risk.

Can I have coloured stones: pink, blue, rainbow?

Colour is possible on request and is quoted individually. The hard-wearing options suited to grillz are sapphires (which come in pink, blue, yellow, purple and more), rubies, and lab-grown or treated coloured diamonds. Natural coloured diamonds exist but cost far more. We always tell you exactly what a stone is, including whether it's lab-grown or colour-treated.

Can I have opal, emerald or other soft stones in grillz?

Grillz live in a wet, warm mouth and take knocks from biting, so stones need to be hard and stable. Opal is soft (about 5.5 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale), can hold water and can crack with heat changes, so it isn't suitable. Emeralds are hard but often brittle and oil-treated. Diamonds (10), sapphires and rubies (9) and moissanite (about 9.25) are the sensible choices.

Styles

What's the difference between open face and solid?

A solid grill covers the full front of each tooth in metal. An open-face (or 'window') grill is a metal outline with the centre cut out, so your natural tooth shows through the frame. Open face uses less metal and gives a sharper, more detailed look.

What is diamond-cut?

Diamond-cutting carves small faceted grooves into the metal surface so it catches and throws light, a bit like a gemstone, without any stones. It's a classic grillz finish and works well on gold and silver.

Can I get just one tooth or fangs?

Yes. A single cap is one tooth, usually a canine (reads as a fang) or a lateral incisor (more subtle). A pair of canines makes classic fangs. Single caps are the easiest way into grillz and you can add more teeth later with a fresh impression.

Top six, bottom six, eight: what should I get?

'Six' covers the front six teeth (canine to canine) and 'eight' adds the first premolars for a wider smile. Top pieces are most visible. Bottom pieces show when you talk and are a little more subtle. Plenty of people go top and bottom. Try each in the 3D builder to see the look.

Do you do permanent grillz?

Bite Club grillz are removable jewellery that snap over your natural teeth. 'Permanent' gold (crowns or veneers) means a dentist reshaping or removing tooth structure and fixing a restoration, which is dental treatment only a registered dentist can provide. We don't glue, cement or fix grillz to teeth.

Can I add initials, engraving or a mix of metals?

Initials, symbols, engraving, two-tone metals and mixed finishes are all possible. Describe it in your order notes with references, and the studio will tell you what works with your teeth and quote it.

Impressions

Why do you need an impression of my teeth?

Everyone's teeth are different in shape, size, spacing and angle. We pour your impression in dental stone to make an exact model of your teeth, then carve and fit your piece on that model so it snaps on properly.

Can you take my impression at the studio?

In the UK, taking impressions of someone's teeth counts as practising dentistry, which only GDC-registered dental professionals can do. So Bite Club never takes impressions. You either take your own with our at-home kit or have your dentist take an impression or intraoral 3D scan.

How do I use the at-home impression kit?

Read the kit instructions first because materials vary. Brush, rinse and dry your teeth. Soften the material (warm water for mouldable beads, or mix putty as directed). Centre the tray, press evenly and bite gently without biting through. Hold still until firm, ease it out and rinse in cold water. Then check it, photograph it and send the photos to the studio before you post it. The Kit tab in the app walks you through each step.

What if my impression goes wrong?

Common problems are bubbles, tears, drag marks, thin spots where you bit through, and teeth that aren't fully captured up to the gumline. Before posting, send the studio a straight-on and a side photo of each mould. If it isn't usable, you'll need to retake it, and the studio will tell you how to get another kit.

Can my dentist do my impression or a 3D scan instead?

Yes. A dentist can take a clinical impression or an intraoral 3D scan, which is the most accurate route. Your dentist charges their own fee, so ask them first. Ask for the scan as an STL or PLY file and add it in the app (Vault > Dentist & scans), or have it sent to the studio.

Do I need impressions of both top and bottom teeth?

Send the impression for the arch you're ordering. Because a top piece has to clear your bottom teeth when you bite (and vice versa), the studio may ask for the opposite arch too, or a bite impression, to check the fit doesn't interfere with how your teeth meet.

How do I send my dentist's scan file?

Ask your dentist to export the intraoral scan as an STL or PLY file. In the app go to Vault > Dentist & scans > Import, where you can preview it in 3D. You can share it with the studio from there. Files stay on your phone until you share them.

Dentists

Should I see a dentist before getting grillz?

It's a good idea, especially if you haven't had a check-up recently. Grillz can trap plaque and food against teeth, so any existing decay, gum disease or loose teeth can get worse underneath. A dentist can confirm your teeth and gums are healthy first. If you can't confirm every point in our safety check, see your dentist before ordering.

Should I tell my dentist I wear grillz?

Yes. Tell your dentist so they can keep an eye on the teeth under your piece. Take your grillz out before appointments. The app can create a one-page piece record PDF (metal, fineness and your safety check) to share with them.

Can I wear grillz with braces, a retainer, veneers, crowns or implants?

Not over fixed braces: your teeth are moving and the piece won't fit. You can't wear a retainer and a grill together, and your retainer comes first if you're in treatment. Veneers, crowns, bridges and implants can be affected by a snap-on piece, so check with your dentist before ordering and tell us about any restorations.

How do I find a dentist?

In England you can search 'Find a dentist' on nhs.uk for NHS practices near you, or choose a private practice. Every UK dentist must be registered with the General Dental Council, and you can check a registration on the GDC's online register at gdc-uk.org. For urgent dental problems out of hours, call NHS 111.

Safety

I've swallowed or inhaled my grill, or I'm choking. What do I do?

If you are choking, struggling to breathe or think you inhaled part of a grill or a stone, call 999 immediately. If you've swallowed a piece or a stone and feel fine, call NHS 111 or go to A&E for advice today. Don't wait to see if it passes. Stop wearing the piece until it has been checked.

My teeth or gums hurt, bleed or feel loose. What should I do?

Take your grill out and stop wearing it. Pain, bleeding, swelling, a loose or cracked tooth, a rash or burning feeling all need a dentist's eyes, not a jeweller's. Book your dentist, or call NHS 111 for urgent dental care out of hours. Once your dentist has checked you, contact the studio and we'll look at the piece.

Are grillz bad for your teeth?

The main risks are plaque and food getting trapped under the piece (leading to decay and gum disease), gum irritation from rough edges or a poor fit, wear on opposite teeth, and reactions to base metals. Lower the risks with a custom fit in precious metal, by brushing before putting it in, taking it out to eat, cleaning it daily, not sleeping in it and seeing your dentist regularly.

How long can I wear my grillz each day?

Grillz are best worn for occasions and set periods rather than all day, every day. The longer they're in, the more time plaque has to build up underneath. Take them out to eat, clean them and your teeth regularly, and give your mouth breaks. If anything feels sore, stop.

Can I sleep in my grillz?

No. Saliva flow drops when you sleep, so plaque builds up faster under the piece, and clenching or grinding at night can damage your teeth, the piece and the stone settings. There's also a small risk of it coming loose. Take it out, clean it and store it in its case.

Can I eat or drink with grillz in?

Take your grillz out to eat. Food gets trapped under them, and biting can bend the piece or loosen stones. Stick to water while wearing them, because sugary, acidic or coloured drinks sit against your teeth under the metal.

Can I smoke or vape with grillz in?

It's best to take them out. Smoke and vape residue builds up on the piece and on your teeth underneath, discolouring both and adding to plaque. Clean the piece afterwards either way.

I have a metal allergy. Can I still get grillz?

Tell the studio about any known metal allergy (nickel is the most common) before you order, so we can quote a suitable alloy. Signs of a reaction include burning, itching, redness, swelling or a rash on your gums or lips. If that happens, stop wearing the piece and see a dentist or GP.

Can I wear grillz while pregnant?

Pregnancy hormones can make gums more prone to swelling and bleeding. Speak to your dentist (NHS dental care is free during pregnancy and for 12 months after) before ordering or wearing grillz, and stop if your gums become sore.

Aftercare

How do I clean my grillz?

After every wear, rinse the piece, then clean it with a soft toothbrush, mild unscented soap and warm (not hot) water, getting into every edge. Rinse well and dry completely before storing. Avoid toothpaste (it's abrasive), bleach and harsh chemicals. Brush and floss your own teeth before putting your grillz back in.

How should I store my grillz?

Store your grillz clean and fully dry in their case. Keep them away from heat, don't wrap them in tissue (they get thrown away), and keep them out of reach of pets: dogs love the smell.

My grillz used to fit but now feel tight or loose.

Teeth shift over time, and dental work, grinding or a knock can change the fit. Don't force a tight piece on or bend it yourself. If a tooth feels loose, see your dentist first. Then contact the studio: depending on the change, the piece may be adjustable or need a new impression and a remake.

Can you repair my grill or replace a stone?

Most repairs are possible: reshaping, re-polishing, re-tipping and replacing or resetting stones. Send the studio clear photos and a description, and stop wearing a damaged piece in the meantime. Repairs are quoted individually.

Delivery, returns & fit

How do you deliver finished grillz?

Collect your piece at a private appointment in London, or have it posted using a tracked, signed-for, insured service. The studio confirms the option and any cost with your quote.

Can I return or cancel my grillz?

Because every piece is made to your teeth and design, the usual 14-day 'change of mind' cancellation right for online orders doesn't apply to personalised goods (Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). Your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 do: if a piece is faulty, not as described or not made with reasonable care and skill, contact the studio about a repair, replacement or refund.

My new grill doesn't fit. What now?

A new piece should seat with gentle, even pressure and feel snug, not painful. If it won't seat, rocks, pinches your gums or hits your other teeth when you bite, stop wearing it, don't bend it, and contact the studio as soon as possible with photos. We'll work out whether it needs adjusting or a new impression.

Is there a guarantee?

Your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 always apply: goods must be of satisfactory quality, as described and fit for purpose, and services carried out with reasonable care and skill. Wear and tear, damage from eating in the piece, and changes to your teeth aren't faults. Ask the studio for its workmanship terms with your quote.

Grillz 101

Where do grillz come from?

Decorative gold on teeth goes back thousands of years across many cultures. Removable grillz as we know them rose with New York hip-hop in the 1980s, then became a defining look of Southern rap in the 1990s and 2000s, especially in Houston and Atlanta. Since then they've become a global jewellery category, with London makers bringing their own style.

What do all the grillz terms mean?

Six/eight: how many front teeth the piece covers. Tops/bottoms: upper or lower arch. Open face (window): metal frame, tooth shows through. Solid: full metal face. Fangs: canine caps. Diamond-cut: faceted metal. Iced: set with stones. Bust down: fully covered in stones. Pavé, prong, bezel: stone-setting styles. Deep cut: extra-deep grooves between teeth for definition.

What's the difference between grillz, gold teeth and gold crowns?

Grillz are removable jewellery made to fit over your natural teeth. Gold teeth in the dental sense are crowns or other restorations, fitted permanently by a dentist, usually after tooth structure has been removed. They're a clinical treatment, not jewellery.
